Get Healthy With Multi-Grain Dalia

Bored with usual breakfast items? Balancing health and taste is difficult isn’t it? Have you ever tried a wholesome food at breakfast like Multigrain Dalia?
It is a wholesome food specially for pregnant and nursing mommies.
Back in 2010 when I was pregnant first time, I was working in Tokyo. Cooking in morning was always a boring and time consuming task. But I knew I must have enough and nutritious breakfast. During pregnancy once I came to India for vacation. My father recently had been through by-pass surgery, used to have this Patanjali’s Multigrain Dalia nearly every morning. I thought it will be usual healthy and not so tasty breakfast, but when I tried it first time I loved it. It has perfect combination of grains and some taste makers like Ajwain and Sesame. It is tastier and healthier than usual whole wheat only Dalia. Also it is usually made little runny and hot bowl of Pushtahar Multigrain Dalia cooked with vegetables is all in one food for a energetic start of your day. I took few packets with me to Tokyo and started using it for my breakfast regularly.
Let me tell you one thing, I am not at all associated with Patanjali and I do not get any money from anyone for recommending this product. I am just sharing my experience with you.
This multigrain dalia if cooked with vegetables is a perfect breakfast for everyone. It is delicious too. It gives u longer lasting energy, helps u keep full longer and offers your body with more nutrition in the form of minerals and vitamins.
Patanjali Pushtahar Dalia contains wheat, rice, pearl millet, split green grain, sesame seeds, and ajwain (carom seeds). Wheat and rice is rich in fiber and Ajwain as anti-bacterial properties which boosts the efficiency of the digestive system. It has carbohydrates which gets digested slowly hence maintaining ideal level of glucose. Bajra/ Pearl millet contains phytochemicals which helps to lower cholesterol. This food is ideal for diabetic and cholesterol patients. The maker also claims that this food item contains vitamins, omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants, flavonoids, dietary fiber which promotes good health
It is one of ideal food for breastfeeding mothers and expectant mothers. If you are a working pregnant woman/nursing mother then this is one of ideal food for you. Its easy and quick to make and a wholesome food.
You can use this food item in various ways but I like it in Khichadi form.
Following recipe can be tried for a perfect breakfast:
INGREDIENTS : Multigrain dalia, Onion, Ginger garlic paste,1 Tomato, Cut vegetables of your choice, Salt, Turmeric powder, Red chili powder, 2tbs oil and water as per your choice of thickness.
METHOD :
Step 1- In a pressure cooker take one table spoon of oil; fry half chopped onion till it is soft and slightly golden.
Step 2- Add ginger garlic paste and tomatoes and stir them for 2-3 minutes.
Step 3- Add cut vegetables like cabbage/carrots/capsicum/green peas.
Step 4- Then add turmeric powder, Red chili powder and Salt as per your taste.
Step 5- Mix all the ingredients well and add multigrain dalia (Roast the dalia before adding) and mix it well.
Step 6- Add 4-5 times water to it, stir well and close the lid of pressure cooker.
Step 7- Take 2-3 whistles and open the pressure cooker after some time.
Step 8- Multigrain Dalia is ready. Serve it hot and garnish it with onions and coriander leaves.

PLEASE NOTE:
Use of pressure cooker is not must; any other vessel can also be used. But it will take more time than pressure cooker to cook.
Play around with your garnishing; Dry Fruits can also be used.
It is so easy and doesn’t even take much time to prepare, so sometimes I make it for my lunch or dinner too. It is so healthy and tasty that my husband and kids also eat it regularly for breakfasts sometimes as an evening snack.
The experts also suggest that a protein-rich, complex carbohydrate-rich breakfast like Multigrain Dalia is very important-and probably the opposite of what most people do.
Where to buy: Patanjali shops, try some other makers products if available at near by grocery shops, recently organic food makers have these kind of food items, you can even make it at home yourself. It is easy and you can make your own favorite version.

A nursing mothers and even pregnant women feel hungry very often. Also you do not want to overload yourself with extra calories, still maintain a balanced food all time. Multigrain Mix vegetable dalia is best for you when you want to cook quickly and easily. So in one bowl you get whole meal.

  1. I like patanjali’s products. though it is not easy to get always as they are available only in specific shops.

      You will have to cook it before you can add it to hot milk. You can give it a try, I have not tried it with Hot Milk ever.

  2. I have been using patanjali products for the last so 3-4 years, their wheat Dalia is also good to eat. U can prepare variety of items from that like upma, pongal etc..

      Its ok to introduce wheat to your baby. You can pressure cook the whole wheat daliya/multigrain dalia then feed it. Please follow the 3 days rule. i.e. do not introduce any other food during these 3 days trial of whole wheat dalia. If you have already tried all ingredients of multigrain daliya then you can feed that also to your baby.

      Dear Ammu, I think it is effective in healthy weight loss. Its full of fibers and proteins. No carbs. So surely it will help in reducing extra kgs naturally.

  3. I make it myself, using whole mung instead of split mung. I dry roast ALL the grains, mix them & keep them in a big jar. When I want to, I cook it in the rice cooker, using 1 C of the mixture, & 7 cups water, a little salt, veggies of my choice, sesame seeds, carrom seeds… & also green chillies, & 1 small masala laddu, made at home using MY OWN ORIGINAL RECIPE. I make lots of these laddus over the summer, when the sun is scorching hot & the temperatures outside are the hottest… Then, when I am ready to eat, & take some of this, sprinkle it with a little desi ghee or Kachchi ghani ka sarson ka tel OR coconut oil… & eat it woth dahi… aasaan, sasta aur paushtik haar, bina mehnat ke ho tayyaar.. … kaam par jaane se pehle chadhayein ghar aane par taaza garma garam bhojan tayyar payein. Some times I cook it in the Instapot (AKA IP). Other times I leave it in the crockpot or the slow cooker to cook over a low heat… either way, the result is the same… simple, nourishing, hot meal without any effort…
