Benefits of Exclusive Breastfeeding (Duration – 6 months)

For the first month (around 13-14 days specifically), the baby receives the Colostrum from mother’s milk which injects the antibodies and food to the child. It allows the baby to survive the most critical phase of infancy. It strengthens the immune and digestive systems.
The mature digestive system, after 3-4 months, will be able to easily digest the milk. It will also protect your baby from the allergies, ear infections, sickness, and other difficulties.
Breastfeeding for 6 months, without starting to serve other drinks or foods, should be your nursing goal for the good health of your baby. I’ve had this amazing breastfeeding guide by S. Urban and she said „the choice is your”. This should apply to all of breastfeeding questions! I shouldn’t be your mom deciding, nor friends with bigger kids – the choice should be yours. Starting with the first choice if you want to breastfeed or not (this book „How to make breastfeeding pleasant and easy” convinced me to give it a try), picking your favorite position, use of don’t use a pillow or a pump. Finally the decision about giving up should be owned by you too. It’s your body and your baby. As long as you feel it’s working out for you two – you can do that. Decision will come naturally I think.

I also used this book, it was a great help for me in first weeks! I remember those words. I’m breastfeeding for 6 months now and I’m just trying to figure out what to do next, since I’m going back to work soon and I’m afraid of a low supply. Thank you for post anyway!
