Smoothie Recipes for Kids in Summer
Once your baby starts eating all types of veges and fruits, you can try different recipes to satisfy taste buds of your little one.
Usually in summers babies/kids eat lesser due to climate. So to keep the sufficient intake of fruits and vegetables give them cold-soups and juices.
Due to thick and smooth texture of smoothies babies love smoothies.
1. Banana and Mango Smoothie Recipe (with Yogurt):
Fresh yogurt(½ cup), 1 chopped mango(medium sized), 3 tablespoon oats, 1 banana(large sized or 2 if small sized), vanilla essence, ice cubes as required.
Step 1- Firstly peel the banana and mango, and blend it in a mixer or blender.
Step 2- Then add vanilla, oats, yogurt and ice cubes and again blend it till becoming smooth.
Step 3- Remove the smoothie in glasses and serve chilled.
2. Spinach, Apple and Carrot Smoothie Recipe:
1 apple cored(removing the central part), 1 peeled and chopped carrot, 1 bunch of spinach leaves(fresh), ½ inch peeled and grated ginger piece, 1 teaspoon ground flax seeds, mint leaves(2-3) and ice cubes as per required.
Step 1- In a blender or juicer put the carrot, apple and spinach and blend them well.
Step 2- During blending add ginger, mint and flax seed powder and make sure to strain it to remove the rough part.
Step 3- Remove it in a glass and add ice cubes, mix them well and serve.
3. Blueberry Banana Smoothie Recipe:
1 ripe banana(medium sized), ¼ cup blueberry(fresh) and 2 cup yogurt(fat free).
Step 1- Peel the banana and cut it into small size.
Step 2- In a blender jar put blueberry, banana, yogurt and blend it till becoming smooth.
Step 3- Remove it in a glass and serve chilled.
*Blueberry can be replaced with raspberry or strawberry.
*If using dry berries then before making the smoothie soak them into warm water for about 20-30 minutes.
4. Fresh Figs Strawberry and Banana Smoothie Recipe:
2 glasses of cow milk (Only if baby is above 1 year old), 3-4 strawberries, 1 banana (small), 3-4 figs, ice cubes.
Step 1- Chop banana, figs and strawberry in big cubes.
Step 2- Take a blender jar and put all the fruits, sugar or honey and milk. blend them till smooth liquid.
Step 3- Remove it in a glass and add ice cubes or let it chill in a refrigerator and serve.
5. Banana Date Smoothie Recipe:
6 soft dates (I use Kimia Dates), 2 banana (small and peeled), 2 cups cow milk (only if Baby above 1 yr old) (chilled), ice cubes.
Step 1- Peel the banana and slice them.
Step 2- Add it to the blender. also add dates and half of the milk.
Step 3- Blend with half milk first and then again add the remaining milk and blend again.
Step 4- Serve chilled.
6. Banana Orange & Spinach Smoothie Recipe:
2 oranges (large), 1 ripe banana (large), 1 bunch spinach, 1 glass of coconut milk.
Step 1- Wash the spinach leaves roughly and chop them. peel the banana and orange and cut them into pieces.
Step 2- Take a blender and put the oranges, banana, spinach leaves, coconut milk and blend it in a smooth consistency.
Step 3- Remove it in glasses and put it in refrigerator. serve chilled.
7. Chocolate Banana Smoothie Recipe:
(For kids above 1.5 yrs old)
1 tablespoon chocolate sauce, 1 ripe banana (ripe), 1 tablespoon powder of flax seeds, 1 tablespoon powder of chocolate drink and 2 cups cow milk (chilled).
Step 1- Peel and chop the banana into pieces.
Step 2- Put all the ingredients; chocolate sauce, flax seeds powder, chocolate drink powder, banana and milk into a blender and blend them well smooth.
Step 3- Serve in a glass, refrigerate as per required.
8. Papaya Banana Smoothie Recipe:
1 ripe banana (large), ½ cup of papaya (peeled and diced), 5-6 dates chopped, 2 cups of milk and ice cubes.
Step 1- In a blender add papaya, banana, milk and dates and blend it well.
Step 2- Once becoming smooth add ice cubes and blend again.
Step 3- Serve the juice with a garnish of chocolate shavings.
9. Pineapple Banana & Oat Smoothie Recipe:
2 tablespoon oats, 2 cups of pineapple (diced), 2 cups yogurt (lowfat), 1 banana (peeled and cut), 3-4 dates and ice cubes.
Step 1- Take banana, pineapple, yogurt, oats and dates and put them in blender and blend till smooth.
Step 2- Then add water and adjust it according to the needed consistency and blend again.
Step 3- Remove it and refrigerate or add ice cubes and serve.
10. Watermelon Smoothie Recipe:
2 cups watermelon, 1 teaspoon rose water and ice cubes.
Step 1- Clean the watermelon and cut it into small pieces.
Step 2- Put rose water along with watermelon in a blender and make it a smooth liquid.
Step 3- Remove it in a glass and add ice cubes.
11. Spiced Pumpkin Smoothie Recipe:
1 cup coconut milk, 1 cup pumpkin (yellow) and cardamom powder.
Step 1- Firstly cut the pumpkin into cubes and steam it till it becomes soft.
Step 2- Let it cool down and add it to the blender along with some cardamom powder and coconut milk and make a smooth puree.
Step 3- Keep it in a refrigerator. serve chilled.
12. Peanut Butter Oats & Banana Smoothie:
2 banana (medium sized), 2 cup cows milk, 1 tablespoon oats, (crunchy peanut butter can also used), 1 tablespoon powder of flax seeds and 4-5 dates.
Step 1- Add all the ingredients in blender jar and make a smooth paste.
Step 2- Remove it and check the consistency.
Step 3- Add more milk if required. serve chilled.
In India many times due to use of ice kids catch cold/cough. So rather than adding ice you can put the smoothie in fridge for a while and then feed it.
